Repowering

Boat repowering in Orlando

When an engine isn’t worth fixing, or can’t be fixed, a repower gets the boat back on the water with a new motor, rigged and tested properly.

When a repower makes sense

Sometimes the call is obvious: a failed block, or an engine that no one supports anymore. Sometimes it’s a judgment call, and we’ll walk through repair against repower with you before you decide.

Felicia Keesey’s Evinrude E-TEC is a good example. It had a bad ECU at 240 hours, and there was nothing left to fix it with. A repower got the boat back on the water.

“Fast forward to one of the biggest hassles I thought was going to be horrible, was repowering my boat. I got an amazing deal, and Both Eddy and Victor took there time, and has been patient with any questions or issues with the boat.”

What a repower here includes

  • Removing the old engine and fitting the new one
  • Controls, gauges and wiring connected and tested
  • Steering checked while everything is open, including hydraulic lines
  • The fuel system cleaned, so old fuel and debris don’t follow the new engine
  • A water test before handover

“Eddie and his team repowered my boat and went above and beyond when problems arose. They fixed my hydraulic steering when the line deteriorated when touched and also cleaned my fuel system. Eddie also kept me updated daily.”

Repower or long block?

On inboards and sterndrives, replacing the long block can be an alternative to a full repower. It keeps the parts of the existing setup that are still good. That’s the route Jeff McKenna’s 2009 Sea Ray 210 took. Read more on the engine repair page.

Getting a number

Call or text with the boat, the current engine and what happened to it. If you already know which engine you want, tell us. If you don’t, Eddie can talk through the options. One owner shopping for equipment on a Galeon 550 put it this way:

“Eddie took time to educate me on the different manufacturers and products as well as the process. […] He provided high quality equipment and service.”
